Non-Medical Volunteers

Giving back to one’s community is one of the most selfless, impactful things a person can do. At any given time in our lives one of us may find ourselves in need of assistance and a caring, helpful hand. The compassion and heart it takes to give of one’s time for the well-being of another is the mark of a genuine humanitarian. The Forsyth Community Clinic relies upon these individuals to create a nurturing environment where we can provide quality healthcare services to our community’s most in-need residents. A warm smile, a welcoming hello, a gentle touch on the elbow of an ailing person, going an extra step to ensure care or simply taking part in a fundraising activity are all vital components of the volunteer experience at FCC. Our volunteers are, simply put, our lifeblood, and we welcome any and all individuals willing to give of their heart and time.

The clinic is open to treat patients on Saturdays between the hours of 9:00am and 1:00pm. Prior to signing up for a day to work in the clinic, all volunteers are evaluated by the Georgia Department of Public Health Georgia Volunteer Health Care Program. Once this process is complete FCC staff will work with each volunteer to schedule a day to begin their official relationship with the clinic. Volunteers are asked to work a complete four-hour shift and we also ask that first time volunteers make an appointment to visit the clinic prior to their scheduled shift to receive an orientation and training. We want our volunteers to feel as knowledgeable and prepared as possible before taking on the task of interacting with patients and staff. On the day of their official shift we request they arrive at least one hour in advance to assist in prepping the facility for operations.

The role and impact that volunteers have on the success of the clinic and the well-being of our patients cannot be overstated and we are fortunate to operate in a community with such a rich, diverse population of caring and engaged community leaders. We look forward to welcoming you into our family!
